Art & Culture Krabi Town

Get a little culture while you’re here.

Wat Tham Seua (The Tiger Cave Temple) is just outside town on the way to Krabi International Airport. It’s a must visit spot and the 1200 stair climb to the temple on top of the mountain is not to be missed. Watch out for the monkeys at the foot of the stairs and do not feed them. Go in the early morning or late afternoon to escape the heat of the day. When visiting any of Thailand’s temples or wats remember to dress politely. No singlets or short shorts and take your shoes off before entering the temple.

For an interesting story of the history of Krabi – check out the carved murals all the way along Chao Fa Road. Many people don’t realise that Krabi province is where some of S.E, Asia’s oldest humanoid fossils have been discovered and the whole area is an archaeological area of international interest.

Krabi celebrates many different festivals at all different times throughout the year. Ask Punch if there is anything going on during your visit. Well-known celebrations include Loy Krathong in November, the Vegetarian Festival in September, Thai New Year in April and many, many others.
