Krabi Town offers some of the best street food anywhere in Thailand. Its everywhere after 5pm and its super cheap. The area in front of Chao Fa Pier – around the corner from Sleep Easy, comes alive every evening with street stall offering all kinds of different food. This night market is popular with Krabi locals and it’s a great way to experience Thai style dinner.
In the heart of Krabi town there is another night market that gets going in the late afternoon. This market offers lots of different ready-made curries and is often sold out by dinner time, so go early to get the best choice. Lots of fresh fruit available here too, as well as Thai desserts and fruit shakes.
Opposite the crab statue just down the street from Sleep Easy is one of Krabi’s best seafood restaurants – it’s called “Bu Dam” – which means Black Crab in Thai. Portions are generous and prices are cheap.
For quality western food don’t miss Viva Italian Restaurant, owned and run by one of Krabi’s best known expats – Renato. Great pizzas, all the usual pastas and some delicious Italian desserts too.
Craving a western breakfast? Head to Easy Cafe, opposite Chao Fa Pier. They serve a full menu of western favourites and the best coffee in Krabi Town.
There are a handful of bars along Chao Fa Rd though don’t expect anything resembling the nightlife of Ao Nang. Drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. there are a few secret bars in Krabi Town – ask us for advice on where to go……
