Ao Nang Beach

Ao Nang Beach is the nearest beach to Krabi Town and is easily reached by catching a Songteaw  right outside Sleep Easy. Ao Nang is the most developed beach in Krabi and if you are looking for Mc Donalds, Starbucks, Pizza Hut etc then this is the spot for you. Ao nang Beach is also where many of the dive shops are located and other tour operators offering trips to nearby islands and the Bay of Phang Nga. Its not the best beach in the area but anyone spending time in Krabi has to spend at least one day in Ao Nang. Swim at the north end outside Krabi Resort.

Railey & Phra Nang Beach

Although part of the mainland these two famous beaches are only accessible by long tail boat – leaving from Chao Fa Pier – just around the corner from Sleep Easy, or from Ao nang Beach. The dramatic limestone cliffs that soar vertically from the beaches are instantly recognisable as one of the most photographed spots in Thailand. There are many accommodation options over there from five star resorts to bamboo bungalows. This is also the mecca of rock climbing in Thailand and it’s here that many of the world’s climbers come to cut their teeth on some of Asia’s best sport climbing.

Tub Kaek Beach

There is no public transport to this beautiful, white sand beach to the north of Ao Nang, so you will have to rent a motorcycle or car to get there. There is a handful of expensive hotels along the beach but still a few local places to eat and drink. At the end of the beach is the entrance to a national park with a 3.5km hike to one of Krabi’s best lookouts.

Chicken & Poda Islands

These two beautiful islands are side by side about 30 minutes beyond Railey. Join an island tour or simply hop on a long tail boat from Ao Nang or Railey to spend a day at the white sand beaches on these islands. Be warned there is an entry fee to the islands and food and drink is expensive so bringing your own is recommended if you are on a tight budget. The waters around the islands are often crystal clear so bring a mask and snorkel.

Ko Lanta

Koh Lanta is a large island to the south of Krabi and can be reached either by road or ferry from Krabi Town. The west coast of the island is one beach after the other separated by rocky headlands or river estuaries. The northern beaches are very developed though as you head south they become wilder until eventually you arrive at the national park in the very south of the island. Lanta is well worth visiting though is too far to go for the day.
